AI has caused a lot of challenges in education as it lack the ethical and effectiveness. This causes a lot of headache to educators as they face many challenges that can’t be ignored while implementing AI into education. The alarming challenges in implementing AI into education ethically and effectively are the biased and discriminatory algorithm, breach of student privacy and lack of human interaction
The first challenge is the biased and discriminatory in AI algorithm. According to “Ethical Design of AI for Education and Learning Systems” by W.Y. Leong and J.B. Zhang, AI models may perpetuate stereotypes and biases from the training data. This causes a lot of concern from parents and educators alike. To prevent this, using a more diverse datasets and regularly performing audits, it helps to identify bias on a trained algorithm to prevent inequality. With this, the usage of AI in learning will not be biased or discriminatory against a certain group
The second challenge that was faced is the breach of students privacy as it can be misuse. This is alarming as according to one blog post by user CompassAI, students’ profiles that are intended for educational purposes are sometimes misused for commercial or unintended use. By implementing privacy-by-design principles, it is able to prevent students’ data from being collected. This includes student behavior to learning habits and their personal details. It can also be enforced with more robust governance policies. As such, students data privacy are secure against any misuse of data
The third challenge that is being faced is the loss of human interaction. According to a blog post by user Javier Canales Luna, education is just not about gaining new knowledge and skills but also getting to know each other, it includes student-teacher relationships. The lack of human interaction can be prevented by balancing the usage of AI tools with human led activity to ensure the social learning outcome. With this, students are able to gain social interaction while still being able to use AI.
In conclusion, the usage of AI can be a problem in many ways such as bias and discriminatory algorithms, breach of student privacy and lack of human interactions. AI is by no means bad but the misuse of AI can be problematic for people. This is especially true in the education sector as many students and educators are using it nowadays. As a student I recommend the usage of AI moderately as it may not only impact your educational performance but your real life skills and knowledge.
One Response
The essay shows a basic understanding of the topic and addresses relevant challenges of using AI in education. In terms of language, meaning is generally understandable, but frequent grammatical errors, incorrect verb forms, article misuse, and awkward sentence structures often affect clarity and accuracy. Regarding organisation, the essay follows a clear structure with an introduction, body paragraphs for each challenge, and a conclusion; however, cohesion within paragraphs is weak and ideas are sometimes repetitive or loosely connected. For content, the points raised are relevant and supported by examples, but the discussion remains largely descriptive with limited critical depth and some over-generalisation. Overall, this essay demonstrates modest control of language and development and would be placed at MUET Band 3.
Congratulations! you did your best with 0% AI involvement. You will do better next time! 🙂
