Physical classrooms has stood as primary method of learning for years, yet today you can grasp knowledge without ever stepping onto campus. Which raises debate on which learning method is more effective. However, both method is effective depends on how the educator and learners utilize them. Some students may preferred traditional method as it makes it easier for them to directly interact with the teachers, while others might preferred online learning. Traditional education and online learning both come with their own advantages and disadvantages, but their effectiveness comes from how students and teachers use them.
To begin with, some people believe that traditional learning is more effective as it better in covering large amount of content in short period of time.
This is because it allows the teachers to manage lesson more equally to ensure most subjects covered according schedule. For example, a teacher can explain complicated subject which then allows them to do a quick answer and question session to check students understanding. With that it allows the classroom to be more efficient in each subjects.
Furthermore, traditional education introduces a teacher-center approach method.
A teacher-center approach allows the instructor to deliver information directly and able to provide immediate guidance and feedback. This method allows the teachers to guide their students step-by-step, and also allows them to monitor students progress closely. For instance, this method allows students to easily understand the subjects under teacher guidance and supervision. This method can bring benefits toward students who need direct step-by-step explanation.
On the other hand, a passive teaching method can cause students boredom in classroom. Since traditional education is mainly focused on lectures and textbook, this can cause the classroom to have limited creative interaction. This form of study can reduce students interest as they feel detached from the lesson, causing them to lost motivation. For example, a long form of lectures with bare engagement with the student can cause them to develop negative view toward the subject. This then can strongly affect their academic.
In addition, traditional education also lacks modern technology usage in the classroom. A traditional classrooms does not fully exploit the benefits of modern technology. This is because traditional education still using teaching tools such as whiteboards and printed materials, which then limit the interactive, and technology based learning. For example, a traditional classroom does not have enough materials such as videos or any form digital media to give the students more depth explanation of the lesson. This lack usage of technology traditional classroom can affect the effectiveness of the education.
In conclusion, while traditional education offers more direct teaching and learning method, the effectiveness depends on the learners needs, goals, and circumstance.
One Response
This discursive essay demonstrates good content because it discusses several relevant points about traditional education such as efficiency in covering content, teacher-centred guidance, boredom, and lack of technology; however, the comparison with online learning is limited, so the discussion is slightly unbalanced for the given title. Language is generally clear with appropriate vocabulary, but there are frequent grammatical errors, subject–verb agreement issues, and awkward phrasing that sometimes affect fluency and accuracy. Organization is fairly strong, with a clear introduction, logically separated body paragraphs, and a concise conclusion, though some repetition and weak transitions reduce overall coherence. Overall, the essay shows solid ideas and structure but would be more effective with improved grammar and a more equal comparison of both learning modes.
